![]() ![]() The scent I’m burning right now is Rustic Pumpkin. Their candles burn clean and their containers are beautiful. ![]() They are a Minnesota based company (which is home for me) but you can find them anywhere from Nordstrom to small boutiques. I’ve been rotating through all of these the last few weeks and I love them all. I also think candles make great gifts, so think of that as the season unfolds. I thought I would highlight some of my favorite brands and scents for you in case you need to get any candles for the upcoming fall and winter season. I hate seeing that soot stream above the flame that settles on the ceiling, cupboards or anything around it. In the past year or so I’ve discovered some new brands I like better because - not only do they smell good - they burn cleaner. But those baking scents are still high on my favorites list. As Christmas rolls around, I love the pine and cinnamon scents. Luckily I have a husband who doesn’t mind candles, and those that smell like a hint of a burning fire are his favorite. For fall, I love pumpkin scents but I also those that smell more woodsy. My favorite scents tend to be those scents that makes the house smell like I’ve been baking. I love a fall or winter evening with a candle burning, making the house all cozy and smelling good. I probably have five on hand if anyone’s interested in trying that one. So, I did my research and found out that the scent was actually the same as the Pumpkin Pecan Waffle Scent. It was so … yummy (I apologize in advance for how many times I use a variation of yum in this post). For years that scent was Bath & Body Works Thanksgiving candle. If I have a favorite, I’m sad when it’s done - so I always buy another two or three in case they stop making that scent. As much as I love buying them, I also enjoy displaying them and burning them. In the renovation, the house was also seismically retrofitted and has a shiny new elevator that links all four levels.I have a confession. Find a wine cellar, a cigar salon, an exercise room complete with steam room and sauna, an entertainment room, a family room with a secondary kitchen, a three-car garage, and multiple outdoor spaces. Nestled in the heart of the second level, it sits between two walk-in closets, the primary suite (alongside which is a sitting area and butler's pantry), and two bedrooms, each with their own bathrooms. The master bath is arguably the most stunning, swathed in marble with a central dual-sided, curved wood vanity topped with a ceiling mounted circular mirror and lighting. Each room is a statement in itself, like the study with its coffered walls and carved wood beams accented by a gilded pendant. Taking inspiration from French and Belgian architecture, the kitchen exudes muted elegance with luxe Christopher Peacock in white and wood. This space is all about doors with French doors that open to the patio, an arched one into the hallway, a narrow walkthrough to the foyer, and finally, another set of French doors with a glass arch overhead. There is both a dining space alongside it and a dedicated dining room. Adding to the airy nature are expanded, open rooms and enormous arched windows that frame the living and dining areas.Īn ornate fireplace stands as an anchor in the open floor plan's living area. Paired with an organic palette of beached oak, limestone, and margarine plaster ceilings and walls, it provides a soothing palette for artistic details like patterned flooring, swirling balustrades on a curved stairwell, and coffered walls to stand out. The space is filled with natural light from large steel windows. This Presidio Heights home channels a French-Normandy manor with dramatic arched windows, limestone slabs, an elevator, and views of the Golden Gate Bridge.īuilt in the 1930s, the estate offers grand rooms and reimagined craftsmanship by Handel Architects, and underwent a recent down to the studs renovation from Matarozzi Pelsinger. ![]()
